vago

For agents

Pages for a coding agent working in a repo that uses Vago, and a snippet for that repo's AGENTS.md that points the agent to them.

These pages are for a coding agent working in a Project that uses Vago: what Vago does, how to write a Goal, its Tickets and a Workflow, which vago commands to run, and what Vago can’t do yet. Each is a list of rules, checked against Vago’s code and its glossary.

The AGENTS.md snippet

Paste this into the AGENTS.md of your Project, or its CLAUDE.md. It tells your agent the Project uses Vago, and links the Markdown copy of each page below, so the agent reads them before it writes a Goal, a Ticket or a Workflow.

## Vago

This Project uses Vago: `vago run` takes a Goal's Tickets one at a time through a Workflow of agent and shell Steps, with no human present. Workflows, prompts and scripts are in `.vago/`. Goals and Tickets are Markdown files in `.vago-goals/`, which git doesn't track.

- Read the pages below before you write or change a Goal, a Ticket, a Workflow or a prompt in `.vago/`.
- Use Vago's words exactly: Goal, Ticket, Workflow, Step, Run, Harness.
- Create Goals and Tickets with `vago goal new` and `vago ticket add`. Never write or edit the `+++` header of a Goal or Ticket file.
- Leave `vago run`, `vago init`, `vago update` and `vago ticket reset` to the human.

Markdown copies

Every docs, cookbook and agents page has a Markdown copy: add .md to its path, as in /agents/limits.md. /llms.txt lists them all, and each page’s head links its copy with <link rel="alternate" type="text/markdown">.
